We are recruiting on behalf of a national commercial law firm that are located in brand new offices in the heart of the CBD (with multiple public transport options available). They employ over 150 people and pride themselves on their culture and hire like-minded professionals to work with them.

As HR Manager you will be an integral part of this prestigious law firm, partnering with the Executive Chairman, COO, Practice Group Leaders and staff. You will be a valued member of the firm reporting directly into the Chief Operating Officer. It's therefore imperative that you have extensive HR experience within a professional services firm.

The successful candidate must also possess the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HRM
  • Strong operational skills and ability to operate at strategic
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation
  • Change Management experience
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the achievement of a common goal
  • Superior organisational, leadership and communication skills
  • Advanced payroll knowledge

Your duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Recruitment, selection and on-boarding, including management of the trainee-ship program
  • Management and co-ordination of the firm's payroll
  • Management and co-ordination of reception and float legal assistants and overall efficiency of legal support
  • Promoting programs to attract and retain staff and succession planning
  • Employee relations, counselling and well-being initiatives (particularly mindful of the prevalence of mental health issues in the legal industry)
  • Performance management at all levels and supporting partners and managers to effectively manage their staff and promote a high performance culture
  • Managing the performance review process, including implementation of KPIs and continual feedback
  • Development and implementation of training and coaching programs, particularly leadership, communication and change management topics
  • Managing terminations of employment
  • OH&S, including workers compensation
  • Ensuring all compliance is up to date with relevant legislation and Awards
